About ZXP files
A .ZXP file is an extension package used to add new features, panels, or tools to Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe After Effects. Developers use this format to distribute custom scripts and plugins. To install these files, users typically rely on third-party utilities like Anastasiy's Extension Manager or ZXPInstaller, because the official Adobe Extension Manager was deprecated years ago.
The primary disadvantage of the .ZXP format is its highly frustrating deployment process. Third-party installers frequently crash, face strict OS permission blocks, or fail entirely if there is a version mismatch with your installed Adobe software. It is a proprietary package format that cannot be simply dragged and dropped into modern Adobe apps. Because of these limits, users often need to bypass the installers. The best conversion target is a standard ZIP archive. By converting or renaming the file to ZIP, you can manually extract the contents - usually XML manifests, JS scripts, and JSX files - and place them directly into your system's hidden CEP/extensions directory. You lose the automated installation process, but you bypass the software errors.
This file format is difficult to open or convert online because standard file converters expect standard media or documents, not a compressed software installer. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Since our analysis detects the supported underlying ZIP compression format, viewing or conversion may still be possible. We can inspect the file and show the internal text, scripts, and XML configurations hidden inside the package.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ZXP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The ZXP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZXP converter.
