The .MUP extension typically refers to a MindMup Mind Map, a diagramming format used by the web-based MindMup application (often integrated with Google Drive). These files store hierarchical ideas, nodes, and links in a structured JSON text format. Users often face friction because .MUP files cannot be opened natively on Windows or macOS without the specific browser extension or web app, making them useless for offline presentations or sharing with non-users.
