To convert other file formats to the "Mind Map Document" file type, you need software like FreeMind or a similar tool.
About MM files
The .MM file extension is primarily used as a Mind Map Document by applications like FreeMind, Freeplane, and MindNode. These files store hierarchical diagrams, nodes, branches, and styling metadata. Depending on the software, the internal structure is usually either XML (FreeMind) or JSON (MindNode). A secondary use for .MM is as an Objective-C++ Source File in Apple software development. The main drawback of .MM mind maps is their lack of universal support. You cannot open them without dedicated mind-mapping software. If you send a .MM file to a client, they will likely be unable to view it. Furthermore, reading raw XML or JSON mind map data manually is difficult. To share mind maps universally, you must convert them. For printing or archiving, convert to PDF. For embedding in web pages or presentations, convert to PNG or SVG. For text extraction, export to OPML or TXT. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser.

The MM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MM converter.
