About MBP files

The .MBP extension is highly fragmented, but most commonly represents Mobipocket Notes, Kindle eBook Metadata, an iOS backup database, or a Modbus Poll project file. Its contents vary wildly depending on the software that created it. For ebooks, these files are generated by Amazon Kindle devices and apps to store user annotations, bookmarks, and highlights. In industrial networking, they store configuration data for Modbus Poll. Alternatively, Apple uses the extension for specific internal iOS backup databases.

Users often attempt to convert .MBP files believing they contain actual media or readable documents. The primary disadvantage of the format is its nature as a proprietary companion file. A Kindle .MBP file contains no book text, only metadata in JSON format. A CyberLink MediaShow project .MBP contains no video data, only XML-like references to media on your local drive. This makes them virtually useless outside of their native software ecosystems and impossible to read natively in a web browser. Standard online converters fail because there is no single, unified .MBP format to parse.

Direct conversion to standard media formats like PDF or MP4 is generally impossible. However, if the file is an iOS backup database, it is actually an SQLite file under the hood. In that case, the best target formats are CSV or SQL to extract the raw database tables. If you want to share Kindle notes, exporting directly from the Kindle app to TXT or HTML is required.

This file format is difficult to open or convert because it is a closed, proprietary data container. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format like SQLite or JSON, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MBP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MBP1, MPB, MBPV2, BMP, MDB, MOBI, MBS, AZW, PDF, JPG, APNX, PRC and PHL files.
