Extract text from LogTag data files (LTD)
To convert LTD data files to another format, you need LogTag Analyzer or other Data software.
To convert other file formats to the "Hardware Log File" file type, you need software like LogTag Analyzer or a similar tool.
The .LTD file is primarily a LogTag Data file generated by temperature and humidity data loggers manufactured by LogTag Recorders. These hardware devices are deployed to track environmental conditions during the transit of sensitive goods, such as pharmaceuticals, vaccines, or frozen foods. When the logger is plugged into a computer via USB, it exports its recorded sensor data into the proprietary .LTD format.
This format is strictly designed to be opened with LogTag Analyzer, a specialized desktop application for Windows. The main disadvantage of the .LTD format is its proprietary, vendor-locked nature. It is a closed binary format, meaning you cannot natively open it in a web browser or standard spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel. Sharing .LTD files with clients, logistics partners, or auditors who do not have the LogTag software installed usually causes immediate workflow bottlenecks and delays.
To share the data universally, users must convert the .LTD file to a standard format like CSV, XLSX, or PDF. Converting to CSV extracts the raw time and temperature values perfectly for spreadsheet analysis, while exporting to PDF preserves the visual graphs and compliance signatures but removes the ability to calculate or filter the raw data points.
Because this format relies on undocumented, vendor-specific encoding, standard online converters fail to process .LTD files. Often, only the original LogTag Analyzer software can properly read or export the data.
