To convert other file formats to the "Scientific Graphing Project" file type, you need software like Origin or a similar tool.

About OPJU files

The .opju file is the modern, Unicode-based project format for Origin, the industry-standard software for scientific graphing and data analysis. Introduced in Origin 2018, this format replaced the legacy OPJ file to natively support international characters and symbols (like Greek letters in equations). A single .opju file serves as a container for an entire research project, holding worksheets (data columns), matrices, 2D/3D graphs, and notes in a hierarchical folder structure.

For most users, the challenge is proprietary lock-in: .opju files cannot be opened by versions of Origin older than 2018, nor can they be viewed directly in Excel or web browsers. If you don't have a $1,000+ OriginPro license, you are effectively locked out of your data. While OriginLab offers a free viewer, true interoperability requires converting the internal components. For data accessibility, convert your project's worksheets to XLSX (Excel) or CSV for universal analysis. For publication and sharing, convert graphs to vector PDF or high-res PNG to ensure figures render correctly on any device.

Convert.Guru analyzes your OPJU file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted OPJ, ZIP, PDF, JPG, INP, CSV, JWS, CIF, RAR, PKL, TSX, ACSM and TXT files.

The OPJU Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OPJU converter.
