About OPJU files

The .OPJU file is a scientific project file used by Origin and OriginPro. It stores complex datasets, multi-sheet workbooks, matrix data, analytical results, and 2D/3D graphs in a single container. Researchers and engineers use this format to organize complete data analysis workflows.

This format is exclusively managed by OriginLab software. Introduced in Origin 2018, the .OPJU format replaced the older OPJ format to add full Unicode support and utilize a compressed ZIP-based architecture.

Working with .OPJU files outside of the native software is frustrating. The format is highly proprietary and requires an expensive commercial license to edit. It is not supported by web browsers, and standard spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel cannot open it. Collaborators without an Origin license face significant roadblocks when trying to review your raw data or verify graphical outputs.

When sharing data, users typically need to convert the internal worksheets to CSV or XLSX formats. For publishing, the internal graphs must be exported to vector formats like PDF or SVG, or high-resolution raster images like TIFF.

This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because it is a closed, proprietary structure that relies heavily on Origin's internal rendering engine. Standard online converters fail because they cannot process the complex graphing metadata. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Because .OPJU files are essentially zipped containers, our analysis can sometimes extract the underlying XML data or embedded preview images, giving you access to your data without a software license.

Convert.Guru analyzes your OPJU file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted OPJ, ZIP, PDF, JPG, INP, CSV, JWS, CIF, RAR, PKL, TSX, ACSM and TXT files.

The OPJU Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OPJU converter.
