To convert other file formats to the "Lighting Data File" file type, you need software like DIALux or a similar tool.
About LDT files
The .LDT extension is primarily associated with the EULUMDAT format, the European standard for photometric data used in lighting design. These files contain essential intensity distribution curves and lamp specifications used by architects and engineers in software like DIALux and RELUX to simulate illumination in 3D environments.
While .LDT files are technically ASCII text, their rigid, positional structure makes them difficult to interpret manually. A significant problem is regional compatibility; North American software (such as Autodesk Revit) often prioritizes the IES (Illuminating Engineering Society) format, forcing users to convert .LDT to IES for accurate rendering. Additionally, the .LDT extension is used for Labordatentransfer, a German standard for exchanging medical laboratory data. These files are strictly for machine processing and require conversion to PDF for human-readable patient reports or CSV for data integration.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LDT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LDT file to IES, PDF, ULD, DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP or IGES, you can use DIALux or similar software from the "Photometric Lighting Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to LDT, try DIALux or another comparable tool in the "Photometric Lighting Data" category.
The LDT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LDT converter.
