About LOOK files
The .LOOK file extension represents a color grading preset primarily used by Adobe Premiere Pro within its Lumetri Color panel, as well as the discontinued Adobe SpeedGrade software. These files contain specific mathematical instructions for adjusting color, contrast, hue, and saturation, ensuring a consistent visual tone across multiple video clips. They are essential for filmmakers and video editors establishing a specific visual mood. These files can be opened and applied natively in Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. The primary disadvantage of the .LOOK format is its proprietary nature and severe application lock-in. Unlike universal 3D LUT files, .LOOK files require a heavy, subscription-based non-linear editor to simply preview the effect, as they cannot be double-clicked to view an image. They are also rejected by alternative tools like Final Cut Pro or standard raster image editors. For universal compatibility, users must convert .LOOK files to standard .CUBE or .3DL formats. Converting to .CUBE provides an industry-standard 3D LUT that works flawlessly across nearly all compositing and grading platforms, though highly specific Adobe Lumetri math might be flattened during export. Because .LOOK files are proprietary and complex, they are incredibly difficult to convert using standard web utilities. Often, only the original Adobe software can accurately interpret and export the color nodes.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LOOK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
