Convert a file to LC
To convert other file formats to the "Bytecode File" file type, you need software like Lua or a similar tool.
About LC files
The .LC file extension is most frequently associated with Compiled Lua Bytecode. These are binary files generated from standard LUA source code to optimize performance and protect intellectual property in applications like Solar2D (formerly Corona SDK). A major issue for developers is that .LC files are binary and not human-readable; they cannot be edited in standard text editors like VS Code without first being decompiled. Furthermore, Lua bytecode is version-specific, meaning a file compiled with Lua 5.1 may crash a Lua 5.3 interpreter.
A secondary but distinct use is for Astronomical Light Curve data, which stores photometric brightness variations of celestial bodies. These files often require specialized scientific software to view, creating a barrier for researchers who simply need the raw data. Users typically convert these files to CSV or Microsoft Excel formats for easier charting and analysis. Other niche uses include source code for the LOLCODE language or password audit dumps from L0phtCrack.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LC file to SC, DDC, TR, JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP or RB, you can use Lua or similar software from the "Compiled Lua Script" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to LC, try Lua or another comparable tool in the "Compiled Lua Script" category.
The LC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LC converter.
