Convert LCD to another file type
To convert LCD data files to another format, you need Shimadzu LabSolutions or other Data software.
Convert a file to LCD
To convert other file formats to the "LC-MS Raw Data File" file type, you need software like Shimadzu LabSolutions or a similar tool.
About LCD files
The .LCD file extension primarily represents an LC-MS raw data file generated by Shimadzu LabSolutions software. These files store liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analytical data in a proprietary Microsoft Compound File Binary Format. Scientists use them to analyze chemical compositions and chromatograms. A secondary use for .LCD files is as an emulated disk image file created by CDSpace, or a CAD drawing from LiteCAD. The main disadvantage of the Shimadzu .LCD format is its strictly proprietary nature. You cannot open it natively in standard web browsers or generic data viewers without an expensive, specialized Shimadzu software license. The files are often large and lock your scientific data into a vendor-specific ecosystem, complicating peer review, data sharing, or long-term archiving. To share or process this chromatography data using open-source tools, you should convert .LCD files to universal mass spectrometry formats like .mzML, .mzXML, or flat data arrays like CSV and TXT. However, direct conversion usually requires specific vendor libraries or scientific tools like ProteoWizard. Converting to standard text or CSV will lose the complex multidimensional chromatogram structures, though it preserves raw numeric outputs. Because .LCD is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters completely fail to process it. Only the original LabSolutions software or vendor-authorized utilities can properly read or export the full analytical data natively. If our analysis detects a supported underlying embedded format, viewing or basic conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LCD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LCD file to TV, ISO, IMG, DMG, VHD, VMDK, VDI, HDD, QCOW, QCOW2, RAW or VBOX, you can use Shimadzu LabSolutions or similar software from the "Liquid Chromatography Spectrometry Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert VFD, DMG, OVA, IMA, VBOX, ADF, PVS, VHD, OVF, ISO, DSK or IMG files to LCD, try Shimadzu LabSolutions or another comparable tool in the "Liquid Chromatography Spectrometry Data" category.
The LCD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LCD converter.
