Most commonly, it functions as a Construction Project Management Document developed by HCSoft, or an Anybus Gateway Configuration File managed by HMS Industrial Networks. Other variations include an accounting backup from HELISA software, a Highly Compressed Graphics 3D model from Tech Soft 3D, or a concrete quality control record from HormiGestión.
Because these formats span entirely unrelated industries - from construction planning to industrial IoT networks - identifying the exact source is your first major hurdle. These are closed ecosystem files. You cannot simply open an HMS gateway configuration in a standard text editor, nor can you view an HCSoft project file without the specific vendor software. This vendor lock-in guarantees compatibility issues when sharing files with external teams.
Conversion targets depend entirely on the file's origin. Construction documents and quality control records are best exported to PDF for reporting or CSV for data extraction. 3D Highly Compressed Graphics should be converted to STEP, IGES, or STL for cross-platform CAD interoperability. Unfortunately, standard online converters will fail completely on .HCG files because they blindly guess the file type and lack the proprietary decoding libraries required to parse the data.
