The .GR2 file type is primarily a proprietary 3D geometry and animation container created by the Granny 3D middleware from RAD Game Tools (now part of Epic Games). These files serve as the backbone for character models, meshes, and skeletons in high-profile RPGs like Baldur's Gate 3, Divinity: Original Sin 2, and Neverwinter Nights 2.
While highly efficient for game engines, .GR2 files present significant hurdles for modders and 3D artists.
