About CSF files

The .CSF extension most commonly identifies an Adobe Color Settings File. These are configuration binaries used by Adobe Creative Cloud applications - such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign - to synchronize color management policies (ICC profiles) across a creative workflow. While critical for print consistency, they are proprietary and cannot be viewed as standard images or documents. Users commonly have issues when trying to 'open' these merely to view settings without owning the expensive Adobe suite.

A significant alternative use is the Content Sealed Format (or Secure Content Format), originally by Informative Graphics Corp (now OpenText). These are strictly encrypted documents (often blueprints or legal papers) protected by Visual Rights Management (VRM). They are designed to prevent unauthorized distribution, often blocking printing, copying, or expiring after a set date. Users frequently need to convert these locked files to PDF or TIFF for long-term archiving or accessibility, though this is often restricted by the file's internal DRM.

Additionally, .CSF files appear in gaming (e.g., Command & Conquer) as string tables. Modders convert these binary files to XML or TXT to edit game text, then re-compile them for distribution.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CSF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CSV, CFS, VCF, XLSX, XCF, GR2, ZIP, CFG, TXT, UDF, JPG, PDF and XAPK files.

The CSF Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CSF converter.
