About FZP files

The .FZP file format primarily serves as an electronic part definition file for Fritzing, an open-source hardware initiative. Under the hood, this file is structured as plain .XML. It stores crucial metadata about an electronic component, including pinouts, properties, and descriptions. Alternatively, .FZP files are used by PTV Vissim to store vehicle record data and traffic simulation results in UTF-8 text format. Users often face significant challenges when handling .FZP files outside their native environments. The main disadvantage of a Fritzing .FZP file is that it contains no visual data. It relies entirely on external .SVG files to render the breadboard, schematic, and PCB views. If you download an isolated .FZP file, you cannot visually see the component. Similarly, PTV Vissim files lock your traffic simulation data into an expensive, proprietary ecosystem. If you need to extract the data, the best target formats for conversion are .XML, .TXT, or .JSON. Converting a Fritzing .FZP file to standard .XML allows you to edit the pin definitions in any code editor. However, you cannot directly convert an .FZP file to an image format like .JPG or .PDF because the graphic assets are fundamentally missing. These files are difficult to open or convert because they act as raw data feeders for highly specific software engines. Standard online converters fail because they expect self-contained documents. Just drag and drop your file to convert.guru to identify the format, view the internal text, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects the underlying .XML or text structure, you can instantly inspect the data without installing the original software.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FZP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FZPZ, FZZ, FZ and RRB files.

The FZP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FZP converter.
