About FPX files
FPX (FlashPix) is a file format developed by the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) and Microsoft in the late 1990s. It is a raster image format that is designed to store high-resolution images with multiple resolutions. It is commonly used to store digital photographs, but can also be used for other types of images.
FPX files can be opened and edited with a wide range of image editing software, including Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, Corel PaintShop Pro, and Microsoft Paint. They can also be converted to other formats, such as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and GIF, using a variety of software, including IrfanView, XnView, and GraphicsMagick. However, conversion of FPX files can be challenging due to the complex nature of the format and the lack of support for certain features in other formats. Additionally, some software may not support the full range of features offered by FPX files, such as layers and alpha channels.
In general, it is best to avoid using FPX files for long-term storage and use other formats, such as JPEG or PNG, instead. For those who need to convert FPX files, the Convert.Guru is a great option.
The FPX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began more than 25 years ago in California, when Tom Simondi published the most comprehensive database of file formats on his website. Before that, Tom had worked on Space Shuttle development at the Air Force Systems Command’s Space Division in Los Angeles. He is known as one of the top programmers of the late 1980s.
When Microsoft integrated Tom’s Filext database into Windows XP, it became the leading platform for analyzing and processing file types and formats.
Today, we use the latest technologies to analyze, process, and convert one of the world's largest collections of file formats. We are committed to developing the best FPX converter by continuously improving quality, usability, and reliability.
