About PDD files

A .PDD file is primarily a proprietary project file created by Adobe PhotoDeluxe, a consumer-level photo editing software discontinued in 2002. Like its professional counterpart PSD (Photoshop Document), a PDD file stores raster images with support for multiple layers, text, and effects.

The Problem: Locked in the 90s

Because Adobe PhotoDeluxe was replaced by Adobe Photoshop Elements over two decades ago, these files are notoriously difficult to access. You cannot open them in standard web browsers, and most modern image viewers display only a blank icon. Furthermore, because they contain uncompressed layered data, file sizes are often significantly larger than standard JPG images, making them hard to email or share.

The Solution: Modern Compatibility

For most users, the goal is to view these old memories or projects.

The PDD Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PDD converter.
