To convert other file formats to the "Relational Database File" file type, you need software like Claris FileMaker Pro or a similar tool.
About FMP12 files
A .FMP12 file is a relational database created by Claris FileMaker Pro. It stores custom data tables, relationship graphs, user interface layouts, scripts, and security settings used to build custom business applications.
The .FMP12 format is highly proprietary and closed. It requires a paid subscription to Claris FileMaker Pro to open and function correctly. It is not supported by web browsers, and you cannot open it with standard database tools like MySQL or SQLite. This is often a source of frustration when attempting to share data with users outside the FileMaker ecosystem.
Users typically need to convert .FMP12 files to extract tabular data for analysis or reporting in other software. The best target formats are CSV, XLSX, or XML. However, any conversion will only extract raw records; custom layouts, scripts, and relational logic will be permanently lost outside of the native software.
Because this is a closed format, it is notoriously difficult to open or convert. Standard online converters fail because the file weaves complex application logic together with data structure. While only the original software can properly read or export the full application, our analysis tools can still inspect the file, show raw text, and help you extract embedded content if a supported underlying format is detected.
Convert.Guru analyzes your FMP12 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert FMP12 file to PDF, DB, SQLITE, SQLITE3, MDB, ACCDB, DBF, ODB, FDB, GDB, MYD or FRM, you can use Claris FileMaker Pro or similar software from the "Relational Database Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert NDF, SQLITE3, BAK, RDB, SQL, DB4, MDF, MDB, LDF, DB, DB3 or SQLITE files to FMP12, try Claris FileMaker Pro or another comparable tool in the "Relational Database Storage" category.
The FMP12 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FMP12 converter.
