The .EPGZ file format is a compressed GUI prototyping project file created by Evolus Pencil, an open-source wireframing tool. Designers use these files to build user interface mockups, website wireframes, and application prototypes. Under the hood, an .EPGZ file is actually a GZIP archive containing an internal XML document that describes the layout coordinates, along with any embedded raster graphics and vector shapes used in the project.
Sharing .EPGZ files directly is difficult because clients and stakeholders cannot open them without installing the dedicated desktop software. The format is highly application-specific and behaves like a folder of data rather than a viewable picture, making it entirely incompatible with standard image viewers, document readers, or web browsers.
To present wireframes to clients, users typically must export the project from within Evolus Pencil to PNG (for static image reviews), PDF (for paginated presentations), SVG (for scalable vectors), or HTML (for interactive, clickable prototypes).
