About EBF files

The .ebf extension typically designates an Educosoft E-Class Session file, a format used by the Educosoft Learning Management System to store recorded lectures and whiteboard data. These files act as containers (often internally ZIP archives) holding multimedia assets like audio, video, and slide images. Users frequently struggle with .ebf files because they are proprietary to the Educosoft ecosystem and cannot be played by standard media players like VLC or Windows Media Player.

Another common use of the .ebf extension is the Encrypted Backup File generated by Sophos UTM (Unified Threat Management) firewalls. Unlike standard backups, these are locked with a user-defined password and cannot be opened or parsed by text editors or database tools. Users often attempt to convert these to PDF or XML for auditing, but the strong encryption prevents access without the original hardware restoration process.

Less frequently, .ebf files are Bevel Profiles used by Xara 3D Maker (now part of Magix) to define extrusion shapes for 3D text. These are small settings files, not full 3D models, meaning they cannot be converted to OBJ or STL formats. For Educosoft files, the best conversion method is often renaming the extension to ZIP to extract the internal MP4 or PDF content. For Sophos files, no conversion is possible; they must be restored to a compatible device.

Convert.Guru analyzes your EBF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted EDF, EBQ, PDF, EBS, XML, EBP, EMF, ZIP, JPG, SBF, ASPX, WCFG and PMD files.
