The .database_uuid file is a critical system component generated by WhatsApp for Android to uniquely identify message backups. Located typically in the Databases folder alongside msgstore.db files, this file contains a plain-text Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) string that validates the integrity of the chat history associated with a specific installation. Users often encounter this file when attempting to manually transfer WhatsApp data between phones or recover deleted messages.
The primary challenge with .database_uuid files is that they are frequently mistaken for the actual database containing chat logs.
