About CPS files
The .CPS file extension is notoriously fragmented, primarily functioning as an Autodesk CAM Post-Processor Script for CNC machinery or an obsolete Corel Photo House Image file. In modern workflows, engineers use Autodesk Fusion 360 or PowerMill to utilize .cps files (written in JavaScript) to translate complex toolpath data into machine-specific G-code. In stark contrast, older graphic systems generated .cps files as proprietary, binary raster images using the Microsoft Compound format. This dual nature makes the format incredibly frustrating. Legacy Corel images are completely unsupported by modern web browsers and image viewers, practically locking users out of their archival graphics. Autodesk scripts, while text-based, require specific proprietary CAM ecosystems to function properly and run tests. Converting a CAM script to TXT or NC makes it universally readable for manual review. For legacy graphics, targeting JPG or PNG is essential to restore baseline accessibility. However, standard online converters routinely fail to process .cps files because the underlying data structure could be anything from raw JavaScript or COPASI XML simulation models to binary radio codeplugs from Motorola or 3D game models from ESTsoft's Cabal Online. Often, only the original authoring software can parse the data.
