About CLIP files
The .CLIP file extension is primarily associated with Clip Studio Paint (formerly Manga Studio), a leading software for digital illustration, comics, and 2D animation. These files serve as the master project format, preserving critical data such as multiple raster and vector layers, text objects, screen tones, and timeline settings. While efficient for creation, .CLIP files are highly proprietary and cannot be opened by standard image viewers, web browsers, or even Adobe Photoshop directly.
This proprietary lock-in is a common source of problems for artists who need to share work with clients or collaborate with teams using different software. To solve this, users must convert .CLIP files to PSD (Photoshop Document) to maintain layer editability in other Creative Cloud apps. For final delivery, publishing, or web use, converting to flattened formats like PNG, JPG, or PDF is essential. Note: A smaller subset of .CLIP files may be replay data from Grand Theft Auto V or raw footage from Yuan High-Tech capture cards; these are not standard video files and require specific workflows to export.
Use Convert.Guru to open and convert your CLIP file.

The CLIP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CLIP converter.
