About CMA files
The .cma extension is a classic example of 'format roulette,' serving two completely different, high-value industries.
Most commonly, it is a Comprehensive Meta Analysis data file used by researchers to store statistical studies, effect sizes, and forest plot configurations. The primary frustration here is proprietary lock-in: these binary files are readable only by the paid Comprehensive Meta Analysis software. Researchers often need to convert these to CSV or XLSX to share data with colleagues who use SPSS, R, or Microsoft Excel.
Alternatively, a .cma file may be a Collibra Migration Archive, used to move governance data between environments. While these are technically archive files, they often lack a standard extension, preventing users from inspecting the contents. In reality, these are often renamed ZIP files.
Less frequently, .cma files appear as color profiles for MainTop RIP software or as character appearance presets for Concept Matrix (a Final Fantasy XIV modding tool), which are actually plain text JSON files.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CMA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CMA file to AWG, SMA, CPA, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG or CONF, you can use Comprehensive Meta Analysis or similar software from the "Statistical Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to CMA, try Comprehensive Meta Analysis or another comparable tool in the "Statistical Data Storage" category.
The CMA Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CMA converter.
