Convert a file to AWG

To convert other file formats to the "Vector or 3D Object" file type, you need software like Ability Draw or a similar tool.

About AWG files

An .AWG file represents either an Ability Draw Document created by Ability Plus Software or an Activeworlds Object Group File used in the Active Worlds 3D platform. Ability Draw relies on this format for storing vector illustrations within the Ability Office suite, whereas Activeworlds uses it to group multiple 3D objects, textures, and environments together for rendering virtual spaces.

The primary disadvantage of the .AWG format is its highly proprietary, legacy nature. These files cannot be natively opened by web browsers, macOS, or industry-standard design tools like Adobe Illustrator or Blender. Users are often forced into buying or installing outdated, platform-specific software just to view the contents, which is both inconvenient and a potential security risk.

To ensure your data remains accessible, it is highly recommended to convert Ability Draw files into standard vector formats like SVG or flat raster formats like PNG or JPG. For Activeworlds files, extracting the data to common 3D formats like OBJ or FBX is ideal, though some proprietary texture mappings may be lost during the transition.

Because .AWG is a closed, undocumented format, standard online converters often fail to process it without access to the original software's rendering engine. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your AWG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DWG, ARW, AZW3 and JPG files.

The AWG Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our AWG converter.
