About CLP files
A .clp file is primarily a legacy Windows Clipboard content file used to store text, images, or formatting temporarily copied by a user. Originally generated by the ClipBook Viewer in older versions of Microsoft Windows, these files allowed users to save clipboard contents directly to disk. The format is also utilized by the CLIPS Expert System Shell for source code, U-Lead PhotoImpact for clipboard data, and Adobe Illustrator for vector clip art. The biggest disadvantage of a .clp file is its extreme obsolescence. Modern versions of Windows removed the built-in ClipBook Viewer, making it very difficult to open a .clp file directly without older emulators or third-party tools like Clipboardic. Because the file lacks a standardized modern header, it often appears as corrupted gibberish if forced open in a standard text editor. Furthermore, if the file contains proprietary vector art or a shipping label for ZebraDesigner, you need that specific, often expensive software to decode it. You must convert this file to access its contents safely today. If it is an old Windows clipboard image, convert it to .PNG or .JPG for web use.
