About CHCK files
The .CHCK file is a database checkpoint file utilized by Microsoft Exchange Server. It operates within the Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) architecture to track which transaction logs have been successfully committed to the main EDB database. System administrators rely on these files during database backup, recovery, and maintenance routines. The .CHCK format is a closed, proprietary binary file. It is not designed for human readability and requires an active server environment to function. Attempting to open it in a standard text editor yields unreadable hexadecimal characters. Because it stores crucial system state data, it is highly sensitive; modifying or deleting it can cause database mounting failures or trigger lengthy transaction log replays. Converting a .CHCK file to standard document formats like PDF or DOCX is generally impossible because it contains system pointers, not user-level text or images. This file format is difficult to open or convert, and often only the original software can properly read or export the data. Standard online converters fail to process it because it lacks a standard document structure. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CHCK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CHCK file to DB, SQLITE, SQLITE3, MDB, ACCDB, DBF, ODB, FDB, GDB, MYD, FRM or SQL, you can use Microsoft Exchange Server or similar software from the "Transaction Log Tracking" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The CHCK Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CHCK converter.
