About BZZ files
BZZ files are primarily associated with Autodesk Buzzsaw, a now-discontinued project collaboration service for the construction and design industries. These files functioned as compressed project archives, allowing teams to package multiple CAD drawings (DWG, DXF), specifications (DOCX), and images into a single transferable unit. The core issue users face today is that Autodesk retired Buzzsaw in favor of the BIM 360 platform, leaving legacy .BZZ archives effectively orphaned without the original client software.
Technically, most .BZZ files are simply standard ZIP archives with a proprietary extension. A common issue is not just opening the container, but accessing the proprietary metadata or specific CAD references that might be locked inside. Users typically need to convert these archives to standard ZIP files to extract contents, or convert the internal documents to PDF for archiving. In rare cases (approx. 1%), a .BZZ file may be a project file for BuzzBundle by Link-Assistant.Com, an SEO social media tool; these are completely incompatible with CAD workflows.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BZZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert BZZ file to JPG, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE or ARJ, you can use Buzzsaw or similar software from the "Project Data Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to BZZ, try Buzzsaw or another comparable tool in the "Project Data Archive" category.
The BZZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BZZ converter.
