A .biz file is primarily associated with legacy business card design software, most notably PageMagic by MySoftware and My Professional Business Cards. These files are essentially proprietary project containers based on the Microsoft Compound File format, storing layout geometry, text, embedded raster images, and font references needed to print business cards.
Because the software that created these files is largely defunct or incompatible with modern operating systems like Windows 11, users often find themselves locked out of their designs. Trying to open a .biz file in Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop will typically result in a "file type not supported" error or a display of gibberish binary data.
For most users, the goal is to recover the visual design. Converting the file to PDF is the ideal workflow for archiving or re-printing, as it attempts to preserve vector text and layout positioning. If you just need to view the content, converting to JPG or PNG is sufficient.
Note: In industrial contexts, a .biz file might be an XML-based data export from Bizerba weighing systems. These are plain text files containing product or weight data, which are best converted to CSV or Excel for analysis.
