About BNC files
The .bnc file extension is primarily associated with CNC bending machine programs used in sheet metal manufacturing. These files contain precise machine instructions, tool parameters, and 3D folding sequences for press brakes manufactured by Bystronic and TRUMPF (using software like TruTops Bend). In a completely different context, the .bnc extension is also used as a proprietary 3D game asset archive by developers like Spike Chunsoft (for Danganronpa V3) and Koei Tecmo. Occasionally, legacy software like Adobe ImageReady used it to store renamed PNG or JPEG image files.
The primary disadvantage of .BNC files is their highly proprietary nature. CNC machine files are strictly tied to specific hardware ecosystems, requiring expensive commercial licenses to open, edit, or view the manufacturing data. They cannot be opened directly in standard consumer CAD software. Similarly, game asset .BNC files are closed, compiled archives designed specifically for a proprietary game engine, making them entirely inaccessible to standard 3D modeling tools like Blender or Maya out-of-the-box.
When dealing with CNC files, engineers typically want to convert .BNC to standard CAD formats like DXF, STEP, or IGES for cross-platform viewing and editing. Game modders usually attempt to extract .BNC archives into OBJ or FBX formats. However, because these are closed, proprietary formats, standard online converters fail to process them. Often, only the original engineering or game engine software can properly read or export the complex internal data. We can inspect the internal file headers to tell you exactly which type of .bnc file you have. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format (like a standard PNG stream or plain text schedule), viewing or extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BNC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert BNC file to USB, VGA, IP, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG or CONF, you can use TruTops Bend or similar software from the "CNC Bending Machine Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to BNC, try TruTops Bend or another comparable tool in the "CNC Bending Machine Data" category.
The BNC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BNC converter.
