About IP files

The .IP file extension serves multiple, entirely distinct purposes. Most commonly, it is an Assessment Item Package file used by Inquisit (developed by Millisecond) and i-give Assessment Software. These files are typically standard ZIP archives containing interactive psychological questionnaires, scripts, and media assets. Another frequent use is for mobile video stream recordings generated by the Bambuser mobile streaming SDK, which stores video data internally using the MP4 standard. Additionally, the format is utilized as an Interactive Physics simulation file by Knowledge Revolution's Interactive Physics software, an IconPackager Theme File by Stardock, and a CFD simulation interpolation file by ANSYS Fluent.

The primary disadvantage of the .IP format is its highly fragmented and ambiguous nature. A single extension represents completely unrelated data types - from educational surveys and raw video streams to complex physics simulations and Windows desktop themes. Many of these are closed, proprietary formats that require specialized, expensive software or active subscriptions to open. Because the internal structures vary drastically, standard online converters will fail to process them reliably.

Depending on the actual content of the file, users typically want to extract the assets into standard ZIP folders, play the video content as MP4, or extract readable text from proprietary scripts.

Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Because many .IP files rely on proprietary structures, you often need the original native software to properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can inspect the file's raw binary data and show internal text content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - like a standard ZIP container or an MP4 video stream - viewing, extraction, or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your IP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ZIP, BIN, PDF, A, AAB, NSZ, HEX and INT files.

The IP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IP converter.
