Convert AIR to another file type
To convert your AIR file to another format, you need Adobe AIR or other Compressed software.

About AIR files
The .AIR extension primarily identifies an Adobe AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime) installation package. These files act as cross-platform installers, allowing the same application to run on Windows, macOS, and mobile devices.
The Problem: Obsolescence and Accessibility
While innovative in the past, .AIR files present significant challenges today. Adobe transferred support to HARMAN in 2019, meaning official Adobe support is dead. Modern operating systems (like macOS Catalina and later) often block these files due to security restrictions or 32-bit incompatibility. Users frequently encounter "file is damaged" errors or find themselves unable to inspect the application's contents (images, scripts, XML config) without running a potentially untrusted installer.
The Solution: Extraction and Conversion
For most users, the best "conversion" target is ZIP. Since .AIR files utilize standard ZIP compression internally, converting them to ZIP allows you to bypass the installer entirely and extract the assets (assets, icons, and code) using 7-Zip or macOS Archive Utility.
For Inspection: Convert to ZIP to view internal assets.
For Deployment: Developers use the AIR SDK to compile .AIR files into native executables like EXE or DMG (bundle format), removing the need for a separate runtime installation.
For Gaming: If your file is related to the M.U.G.E.N engine, it contains animation data. These can often be opened as TXT files for editing physics and collision boxes, though specialized tools like Fighter Factory are recommended.
Convert.Guru analyzes your AIR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert AIR file to EXE, MSI, APP, DMG, DEB, RPM, PKG, RUN, SH, BAT, CMD or COM, you can use Adobe AIR or similar software from the "Application Installer Package" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert JAR, APP, SCR, IPA, COM, AAB, PS1, DMG, VBS, EXE, XAPK or MSI files to AIR, try Adobe AIR or another comparable tool in the "Application Installer Package" category.
The AIR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our AIR converter.
