Convert XFL to another file type
To convert XFL files to another format, you need XFLR5 or other Data software.
Convert a file to XFL
To convert other file formats to the "Simulation Project & Archive" file type, you need software like XFLR5 or a similar tool.
About XFL files
The .XFL file extension is utilized by several distinct applications, meaning its internal structure varies wildly based on its origin. Most commonly, it acts as an aerodynamic analysis project file for the open-source XFLR5 analysis tool, storing complex wind tunnel simulation data. Alternatively, it serves as an uncompressed, XML-based animation project file for Adobe Animate (formerly Flash), or as a closed game data archive for the X-Plane flight simulator engine. These formats present significant usability challenges. The XFLR5 variant is a highly specific data set that requires the original simulation software to visualize the airfoil performance. The Adobe Animate version is technically a ZIP archive containing XML logic and media assets, but editing it natively requires an expensive monthly Adobe subscription. The X-Plane variation is a closed, heavily compressed package strictly designed for the game engine. Because these files are either specialized binary data, proprietary game packages, or multi-layered archives, standard online converters completely fail to process them. You cannot directly convert an .XFL aerodynamic file into an MP4 or a standard PDF without the native application rendering the data first. The format is explicitly not supported by mobile operating systems or standard web browsers. However, workarounds do exist. Our system will inspect the internal headers of your .XFL file to determine its true origin. If it detects the Adobe Animate structure, we can help you extract the underlying XML data and embedded media assets, bypassing the need for premium software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your XFL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert XFL file to MP4, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, WEBM, MKV, M4V, 3GP, OGV, ASF or RM, you can use XFLR5 or similar software from the "Aerodynamic Analysis & Animation Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MTS, MOV, RMVB, DIVX, RM, H264, TS, WMV, VOB, MP4, XVID or AVI files to XFL, try XFLR5 or another comparable tool in the "Aerodynamic Analysis & Animation Storage" category.
The XFL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XFL converter.
