The .FLA file extension is primarily the editable source project format for Adobe Animate (formerly known as Adobe Flash Professional). These files contain the fundamental architecture of an animation: vector graphics, timeline layers, audio assets, and ActionScript code.
Because .FLA is a proprietary authoring format, it presents significant barriers for general access. It cannot be opened or played by standard video players, web browsers, or image viewers. Accessing the content typically requires a paid Adobe Creative Cloud subscription and the specific Animate software installation.
