About AS files
The .as file extension primarily designates ActionScript source code used within the Adobe Flash platform to drive interactive web content. You can typically open them with Adobe Animate or code editors like Notepad++. The massive disadvantage of this format is obsolescence. Flash Player reached its end of life in 2020 and is actively blocked by all major web browsers. Running .as files natively on the modern web is impossible. Users need to port this code to modern targets like JS (JavaScript) or .HTML5, or export it to plain TXT to salvage the script logic. Translating an object-oriented scripting language to another format automatically is difficult. Standard online converters fail because they cannot rewrite code syntax logic. Furthermore, .as files might also be AngelScript game scripts or files maliciously locked by STOP/Djvu ransomware. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your AS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert AS file to BS, RM, JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB or GO, you can use Adobe Animate or similar software from the "ActionScript Source Code Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to AS, try Adobe Animate or another comparable tool in the "ActionScript Source Code Storage" category.
The AS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our AS converter.
