The .VWX file format is a proprietary CAD and BIM (Building Information Modeling) project file created by Vectorworks. Architects, landscape designers, and engineers use these files to store 2D drawings, 3D models, textures, and complex building metadata. To fully open, edit, or reliably export a .VWX file, you usually need the original Vectorworks software.
Users often need to convert .VWX files because the format is highly restrictive. It is closed-source, heavily proprietary, and requires an expensive commercial license to open natively. You cannot view these files in web browsers or standard operating systems without dedicated viewers.
