The .VWP file is primarily a 3D virtual world project created by Virtus WalkThrough Pro, a legacy 3D authoring tool used for architectural visualization and early virtual reality. A secondary, much rarer use case is as a Vehicle Weapon File for older video games developed by Raven Software.
Opening these files natively today is extremely difficult. The .VWP format is obsolete, proprietary, and heavily relies on a discontinued software ecosystem. Modern 3D design software like Blender or game engines like Unity do not support these files. The data is locked inside an outdated format, forcing users to rely on emulators running legacy operating systems just to view the original scenes.
Fortunately, the Virtus .VWP format is internally structured as a standard ZIP archive. The best workaround is to rename the file extension to ZIP and extract it to recover embedded assets like textures and data files. Converting the actual 3D geometry into modern targets like OBJ, FBX, or GLTF is generally impossible without specialized legacy extraction tools.
