About MJP files
The .mjp file is a video container that stores video as a continuous sequence of independent JPG images. It is extensively used by closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems, digital video recorders (DVRs) from brands like LG, and certain digital cameras. A secondary, uncommon use is as a plugin or skin installer for JRiver Media Center.
The fundamental disadvantage of the .mjp format is its massive file size. Because it lacks inter-frame compression, every single frame is saved as a full image, making the files highly inefficient for storage compared to modern codecs like H.264. Furthermore, .mjp files are proprietary or poorly standardized, meaning they are rarely supported by default mobile video players, smart TVs, or web browsers. Users often hit a wall when trying to review surveillance footage, as it usually requires specific, outdated software like the CSI Client Player to view the raw data.
To share, edit, or simply watch these recordings without friction, conversion is mandatory. For web playback, mobile sharing, and YouTube uploads, convert to MP4 (H.264 codec). For archiving legal evidence without losing frame-by-frame quality, convert to MKV. Drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it securely right in your browser.
