About VTT files

The .VTT (Web Video Text Tracks) file is the standard format for displaying timed text - such as subtitles, captions, or descriptions - in HTML5 video players using the <track> element. Developed by the W3C, it is essential for web accessibility and SEO on platforms like YouTube and Vimeo.

While .VTT is native to the web, it presents significant compatibility challenges in offline environments. Many legacy media players, televisions, and editing suites (such as older versions of Adobe Premiere Pro) do not natively support the VTT format, preferring the simpler SRT (SubRip) standard instead. Additionally, raw .VTT files contain metadata headers (WEBVTT) and timecodes that make them difficult to read as a plain transcript. Users frequently need to convert .VTT to SRT for universal playback compatibility, or to TXT and DOCX to create readable scripts and archives.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VTT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DD2VTT, GMT, MP4, TXT, WTT, VRT, JPG, DOCX, SRT, ATT, VTS, M4A and ITT files.
