About TST files
The .TST file extension is highly fragmented, serving primarily as a test and quiz data container for platforms like ExamView Test Generator and Schoolhouse Technologies. These files store questions, multiple-choice answers, and formatting details. Beyond education, .TST is heavily used in cryptography as an RFC 3161 Timestamp Token, verifying when a digital certificate or document was signed. It is also used by engineering hardware, such as Fluke Networks cable analyzers and NI TestStand sequences.
The primary disadvantage of the .TST format is this extreme fragmentation. A .TST file could be a proprietary binary blob, a compressed ZIP archive, or plain text encoded in UTF-8 or UTF-16. Users constantly face "invalid format" errors because the operating system cannot determine which variant they possess. Additionally, educational and engineering .TST files are locked into specific, often expensive, licensing ecosystems. They cannot be easily shared with clients or students without the native software.
To safely distribute test data or logs, converting the file to a standard PDF, DOCX, or CSV is essential. However, because these are closed, proprietary formats, standard online converters routinely fail. They lack the logic to differentiate an ExamView quiz from a cryptographic timestamp. Often, only the original software can accurately interpret and export the data. Our deep-file analysis inspects the header to identify the exact variant. If the .TST file is secretly an embedded ZIP archive or a plain text script, we will extract the internal content, allowing you to recover your data without purchasing the original software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TST file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TST file to PDF, CSV, JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB or GO, you can use ExamView or similar software from the "Test Data and Cryptographic Timestamps" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to TST, try ExamView or another comparable tool in the "Test Data and Cryptographic Timestamps" category.
The TST Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TST converter.
