Extract text from TSF files

The .tsf extension is most frequently associated with TallyPrime and Tally.ERP 9, where it serves two distinct purposes: as a Temporary Saved File buffering active transaction data before it commits to the main database (.900 file), or as an Excel Map Template used to define how external spreadsheets map to Tally's ledger fields for bulk imports.
For Tally users, the primary frustration is that .tsf files are proprietary and encrypted. You cannot double-click them to open in Microsoft Excel or Adobe Acrobat. If the file is a temporary buffer, it is often unreadable outside the specific Tally instance that created it, often leading to panic during data recovery attempts. If it is a mapping file, it is meant to be placed in the Tally excelmaps folder, not opened directly.
A secondary but critical use is as a Microsoft Trace Session File. These are binary logs generated by Windows drivers or Azure diagnostics tools like TraceView. IT administrators often need to convert these .tsf logs into human-readable CSV or TXT formats to analyze system crashes or performance issues. Less commonly, it may be a Trotec Spool File used to send vector jobs to laser cutters.
