About TPI files
The .TPI file extension is most commonly used as a Touch Portal Icon Pack. It stores a bundled collection of images used to customize virtual buttons inside the Touch Portal macro application. Alternatively, .TPI files function as proprietary texture files in Football Manager by Sports Interactive, as video editing plugins for Grass Valley EDIUS, or as conformance statements for the BACnet protocol.
Users often need to convert or extract .TPI files because they are highly application-specific. You cannot natively browse the icons inside a Touch Portal pack using a standard operating system file explorer, and game texture variants require specialized modding tools to view. The format acts as a closed container, forcing users to rely on the original software to read the data. Standard online converters generally fail to process .TPI files because the extension is shared across multiple, completely unrelated industries (macro software, gaming, video editing, and hardware networking), causing parsing errors.
For Touch Portal files, the best conversion target is a standard ZIP archive, which allows you to extract the underlying PNG or JPG graphics. Because these files are often closed, proprietary formats, conversion options are strictly limited. Our analysis engine will inspect the file header, and if it detects a supported underlying format like a standard ZIP container, viewing and extraction become possible immediately.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TPI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TPI file to TPM, TBI, PSI, TM, DLL, SO, DYLIB, BUNDLE, PLUGIN, XPI, CRX or SAFARIEXTZ, you can use Touch Portal or similar software from the "Icon Pack Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert LV2, DYLIB, VST, AAX, DRV, TDE, LADSPA, BUNDLE, AU, DLL, RTAS or SO files to TPI, try Touch Portal or another comparable tool in the "Icon Pack Archive" category.
The TPI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TPI converter.
