A .TMDX file is a word processing document generated by SoftMaker TextMaker, the word processor included in the SoftMaker Office suite. It stores structured text, page layouts, formatting, tables, and embedded images. Users typically open and edit these files exclusively with SoftMaker Office.
This format has major disadvantages for collaboration. It is a proprietary format tightly restricted to the SoftMaker ecosystem. Users without this specific software cannot open the file. It is not supported by web browsers, and you cannot natively open it in dominant industry tools like Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Sending a .TMDX file to a client or colleague usually results in an unreadable attachment.
To share these documents effectively, you must convert them. The best target is DOCX for universal word processing compatibility, or PDF if you need a read-only document that preserves exact page layouts. Be aware that complex tables or custom fonts might shift slightly during conversion.
