About TCL files
A .TCL file is a source code script written in Tool Command Language (Tcl). Developers use it for rapid prototyping, scripted applications, GUI development (via Tk), and automated testing. It is also heavily used for writing network simulation scripts in software like Network Simulator 2 (NS-2).
The main disadvantage of a .TCL file is that it requires a dedicated interpreter (such as tclsh or wish) to execute. If you send this file to a non-technical user, they cannot run it and will struggle to read it without a dedicated code editor. Because .TCL files contain executable commands, corporate email filters and web browsers often block them as potential security risks.
To share the code safely or bypass email restrictions, you must convert the file. For documentation, archiving, or code reviews, convert to PDF/A. For web display, convert to HTML. If you just need to share the raw text without execution risks, convert to TXT. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TCL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TCL file to PYTHON, TBC, JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB or GO, you can use tclsh or similar software from the "Tool Command Language Scripting" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to TCL, try tclsh or another comparable tool in the "Tool Command Language Scripting" category.
The TCL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TCL converter.
