Convert a file to TCL
To convert other file formats to the "Scripting Language Source File" file type, you need software like Tcl/Tk or a similar tool.
About TCL files
A .tcl file represents a script written in the Tool Command Language, a robust dynamic programming language used widely for rapid prototyping, scripted applications, and GUI development via the Tcl/Tk toolkit. These files are also critical in academic and research settings for defining network simulation scenarios in Network Simulator 2 (NS-2). While .tcl files are essentially plain text, relying on them for distribution can be problematic: executing the logic requires a specific interpreter environment installed on the host machine, and opening them in standard word processors often messes up code formatting or encoding. Furthermore, sharing raw source code with non-technical stakeholders is rarely ideal for documentation purposes. For easier sharing and archiving, converting .tcl files to PDF preserves the syntax formatting in a read-only state. For universal access without an interpreter, converting to TXT or HTML allows the code to be viewed in any browser or basic editor.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TCL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TCL file to PYTHON, TBC, JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB or GO, you can use Tcl/Tk or similar software from the "Scripting & Automation" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to TCL, try Tcl/Tk or another comparable tool in the "Scripting & Automation" category.
The TCL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TCL converter.
