To convert other file formats to the "Legacy Report" file type, you need software like Microsoft Access or a similar tool.
About SNP files
The .snp file extension is primarily associated with the Microsoft Access Report Snapshot, a legacy format designed to share high-fidelity reports with users who did not have Microsoft Access installed. Functioning similarly to a PDF, it locks the layout, fonts, and graphics of a database report into a static view.
The Problem: The format is now effectively "dead." Microsoft discontinued the required Snapshot Viewer utility in 2010, and modern versions of Access (2013, 2016, 2019, 365) no longer support exporting to or opening these files. This leaves many organizations with archived reports they cannot view or print on Windows 10 or 11.
The Solution:
For Archiving & Viewing: Convert the file to PDF. This preserves the visual layout and ensures the report can be opened in any modern web browser or viewer.
For Data Extraction: If you need to edit the numbers or text trapped inside the snapshot, convert to XLSX (Excel) or DOCX (Word). Note that because the .SNP format is essentially a vector image wrapper, extracted text may sometimes lose its flow or require cleanup.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SNP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SNP file to PDF, JPEG, INDD, QXP, PUB, PMD, PM6, PM7, PM8, PM9, PM10 or PM11, you can use Microsoft Access or similar software from the "Database Report Snapshot" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MDI, PUB, PDP, PM4, P65, COMIC, WEBTEMPLATE, PMD, SPUB, INDD, PM5 or QXP files to SNP, try Microsoft Access or another comparable tool in the "Database Report Snapshot" category.
The SNP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SNP converter.
