About SNG files
An .SNG file is typically a song project, MIDI sequence, or presentation file. Unlike standard audio files, .SNG files usually do not contain actual audio waveforms. Instead, they store instructions: MIDI note data, instrument patches, mixing settings, or lyrics. Because this extension simply stands for "Song," it has been adopted by dozens of unrelated software and hardware developers.
The biggest disadvantage of the .SNG format is extreme fragmentation. An .SNG file created on a KORG Pa-Series synthesizer is completely incompatible with an .SNG project from n-Track Studio or a lyric presentation from SongBeamer. Furthermore, underlying structures vary wildly - some are ZIP archives (Singular Sound BeatBuddy), some are plain UTF-8 text or JSON (Soundtrap), and others are proprietary binary blobs. This makes them impossible to open in standard media players like VLC or iTunes.
To share your music or presentations, you must convert these project files. For playback on any device, convert your DAW or synthesizer projects to MP3 or WAV. If you need to edit the sequence in another program, exporting to a standard MID (MIDI) file is the best approach. For church presentation lyrics, converting to TXT or PDF ensures cross-platform readability. Drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software.

The SNG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SNG converter.
