About RSP files
The .RSP file extension acts as a chameleon in the digital world, representing distinct formats across engineering, automation, and software development. It is most frequently an MTS RPC III Response file, used by MTS Systems to store time-history data for structural simulation and durability testing. In industrial automation, it serves as a project file for Rockwell Automation RSLogix 5, containing logic for PLC controllers. Additionally, it is widely used as a text-based "response file" by Oracle installers and Microsoft Visual Studio compilers to automate silent installations and builds.
This ambiguity is the primary source of user friction. Trying to open a binary MTS or Rockwell file in a text editor results in unreadable gibberish, while users without expensive, industry-specific licenses like RSLogix 5 ($500+) or MTS RPC Pro are completely locked out of their data. Even for the text-based variants, users often need to convert them to more accessible formats for documentation or analysis. For MTS simulation files, converting to CSV or XLSX unlocks the data for analysis in Microsoft Excel. For Rockwell PLC projects, converting to PDF is the industry standard for archiving logic diagrams without requiring active software maintenance. For Oracle or Compiler response files, converting to TXT or DOCX ensures the configuration parameters are readable and shareable across teams.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RSP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted RSA, ZIP, RPS, DOC, JPG, BAK, PNG, RPMSG, SER, PKG and TRACE files.
The RSP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RSP converter.
