About RPS files
The .RPS file extension is most frequently associated with DevExpress, a software development framework used to create sophisticated reporting systems for Windows and web applications. These files function as Printable Report Data containers, storing the layout, styling, and data snapshot of a report generated within the DevExpress ecosystem.
Because .RPS files are specialized storage formats, they present significant accessibility challenges. They are not standard documents like DOCX or PDF; you cannot open them with generic office software or web browsers. They often require the specific application that created them or the proprietary TdxReportViewer component to view. This "proprietary lock-in" makes sharing reports with clients or archiving them problematic, as the recipient may lack the necessary software licensing or version compatibility.
To overcome these limitations, the best workflow is to convert .RPS files into universally accessible formats. For archiving and professional distribution, converting to PDF ensures the layout remains intact on any device. For data extraction and further editing, converting to Excel (.XLSX) or Word (.DOCX) allows for manipulation of the report's content. Note: A smaller subset of .RPS files are Render Preset Settings used by Autodesk 3ds Max. These are XML-based settings files and should not be converted to document formats.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RPS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted RTF, RSP, TXT, PDF, DOCX, PRS, PNG, SPS, RPA, SPV, MHT, UDF and RPF files.
The RPS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RPS converter.
