About REALITY files
The .reality file format stores augmented reality scenes created for the Apple ecosystem. It is built for Apple RealityKit and authored using tools like Reality Composer. Under the hood, a .reality file is a compressed ZIP archive containing 3D models (often USDZ), textures, spatial audio, physics properties, and interactive behaviors. While powerful for iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS, the .reality format is heavily proprietary. You cannot natively open these files on Windows or Android devices. Standard online converters fail because the format uses undocumented Apple-specific schemas for animations and triggers. Users usually need to convert .reality to universal 3D formats like GLTF, OBJ, or standard USDZ to use the 3D assets in software like Blender or Unity. Because this is a closed, proprietary format, third-party software struggles to read the interactive behaviors. Since the underlying structure is a ZIP archive, our engine can inspect the file and often extract the embedded 3D models and textures.
