Extract text from Laser job and data files (RD)
To convert RD Files to another format, you need RDWorks or other Data software.
To convert other file formats to the "Machine Instruction Data" file type, you need software like RDWorks or a similar tool.
The .rd extension is a notoriously overloaded file format. Its most common use is as a proprietary laser cutter job file generated by RDWorks, software typically used with Ruida laser controllers. However, it is equally likely to be an X-ray diffraction raw data file, an R programming language documentation file, or even a digitally signed document receipt.
Because so many different developers chose .rd for their files, operating systems often fail to assign a default program. A laser cutting file is a proprietary binary containing vector paths and machine speed/power settings. An R documentation file is plain text, and X-ray data is specialized scientific output. If you try to open an X-ray .rd file in RDWorks, the software will crash or throw an error.
You cannot easily convert an RDWorks job file back to standard DXF or SVG because it is compiled machine code meant only for the laser controller. R documentation files, however, can easily be converted to TXT, HTML, or PDF.
