About PRP files
The .PRP file extension is a highly fragmented format primarily used as a PagePlus Presentation file created by Serif PagePlus, or as a 'Properties' and 'Project' container across dozens of specialized applications. Beyond page layout, .PRP files act as game object properties (e.g., in Overlord or Capcom's MT Framework), industrial automation files (Rockwell Automation ProposalWorks), HMI/PLC projects for Kinco and Proface, and even Adobe Premiere Pro effect presets. The sheer variety of .PRP files is its biggest disadvantage. Because the extension simply stands for 'Properties' or 'Project' in many contexts, the internal structure varies wildly. Some are standard XML or GZIP archives, while others use legacy Microsoft Compound File Binary formats. This fragmentation makes .PRP files impossible to open natively in web browsers, and sharing them usually fails unless the recipient has the exact niche software installed. Serif PagePlus is also discontinued, meaning archival presentations are effectively locked in a dead ecosystem. To reclaim your data, conversion is essential. For PagePlus presentations and automation proposals, convert to PDF or PDF/A for reliable printing, sharing, and long-term archiving. For game properties or software configurations, converting to XML or TXT allows you to edit parameters easily.
